I've been fascinated by nature since I was old enough to scale the fence around our place in Florida when I was 4 yo & went into the nearby woods & swamps & was mesmerized by the variety of plants, insects, reptiles, birds, animals, & fish. I've been fortunate to travel & live outside the U.S. & be exposed to a broad range of ecosystems & species.
In 1998 I lucked into working with Grizzly bears in Montana & became enmeshed in the study of grizzlies & black bears.
My degrees are in geography & biology. I live in the Texas Hill Country and work for a global engineering/environmental firm. I'm the Immediate Past President President of the Texas Black Bear Alliance (https://texasblackbear.weebly.com/)
& am working hard toward the goal of returning the Louisiana black bear, a Texas native, to its historic range in East Texas.
