Kia ora,

I am a molecular ecologist based in Wellington, New Zealand, where I am an Invertebrate Curator at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. I specialize in invertebrate biogeography, phylogeography and systematics. Much of my research is collections-focused, and I enjoy any opportunity to get out in the field, gathering samples and data.

My primary study organisms are molluscs, of which, Aotearoa has approximately 5,000 living species, and over 6,000 extinct species. However, I have worked on projects involving a range of vertebrate and invertebrate taxa. I am especially interested in the conservation of large, endangered land-snails, and unusual deep-sea habitats, such as hydrothermal vents.

I enjoy teaching and science communication, and I have experience collaborating or consulting on a range of palaeogenetics, conservation, biosecurity and iwi-led projects. Opinions expressed on iNaturalist are made in a private capacity and do not necessarily reflect the positions of my affiliated organizations.
