SA iNaturalists - April 2021 Update

This month saw a significant boost in both observations and observers due the first day of the City Nature Challenge falling in April and a new Uni of Adelaide project.
This April saw 10,295 observations covering 1,843 species from a new record of 529 observers. There were 139 species receiving their first iNat record in SA. This month there was a record 199 new observers contributing their first observations in SA. Upon this months observations, 556 identifiers contributed a total of 17,122 identifications.
Uploads for SA at the end of April stand at 198,116 observations of 7,634 species from 3,192 observers with, as of today, 3,735 identifiers providing 367,591 identifications.
On the final observation day of the City Nature Challenge we surpassed 200,000 verifiable observations in SA. The City Nature Challenge brought in 5,361 observations of 1,101 species from 157 observers. An amazing achievement where across the 4 challenge days an observation was uploaded on average every 64 seconds!
The addition of a Uni of Adelaide zoology class project this month also boosted the number of observers in SA reaching a new record of 199 new observers.
