Campsite reservations for California state parks, including campsites at the always popular Monterey beaches, Santa Cruz Mountains and Sierra Nevada, open up at 8 a.m. on March 1. Those reservations cover Labor Day weekend and beyond (and any summer sites that are still available).

Mountain lion killed after pouncing on California hunter who was mimicking rabbit call.

A California coyote hunter found the roles of predator and prey reversed last week when a big cat pounced on him and he shot the cougar.

Northern California Wolf Pack Missing Since Early 2016.

Crazy high numbers of breeding otters draw crowds to Morro Bay.

A record number of sea otters has flocked to Morro Bay this year. Scientists estimate 30-40 adults and up to 20 pups have settled around the embarcadero T-piers this season.
