California roadkill report maps costs, hot spots and solutions; wildlife-vehicle conflicts.

California drivers lost about $232 million to costs associated with wildlife-vehicle conflicts in 2018 and more than $1 billion since 2015, according to the sixth annual Wildlife Vehicle Conflict report from the Road Ecology Center at the University of California, Davis.

More than 400 bears hit by cars in Yosemite. Here’s what park is doing to save wildlife.

In an effort to keep more from being injured and killed, the California park announced Thursday that it has designated some areas along park roads where bears and other animals have been hit as new Wildlife Protection Zones.
