The purpose of this project is to study the present distribution of European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) on Great Barrier Island and to eventually try an determine their impact (past & present) on the native flora and fauna of the Island. This information will be helpful in the implementation of future control! Of most interest to myself is the impact they have on Hirakamata and Te ahumata which have a high number of endemic species.
Also aim to:-
•Identify information gaps on the control of rabbits in New Zealand.
•Identify information gaps on rabbits on offshore New Zealand Islands.
•Construct effective methods for future management and monitoring methods on Great Barrier Island. less ↑
