Tentative schedule: 2017 Fundy Bio-blitz (le français suit)

Friday, June 9th
9am –9:30am Welcome and launch of the Bio-Blitz @ the Salt and Fir Centre

9:30am to 12pm – Beaverbrook School group (hike Matthews Head)

1:00 pm- 5:00 pm- NB Craft Council Artist Residency program

7pm – 8:30pm – Biodiversity Movie Night: “Every Living Thing”- A documentary on BioBlitzing in New Brunswick (with French subtitles). The movie will be shown in the Salt and Fir Ctr.

Saturday, June 10th
8:00 am- Beginning of day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability)
8:30 departure for Bennett Brook for guided walk participants. (registration required- meet at 8am at Salt and Fir)

9am to 12pm- Flora of Bennett Brook: A Guided walk with a park naturalist
(registration required- meet at 8am at Salt and Fir)

1:30pm to 3:30pm- Getting better pictures to record your observations: A Quick & Dirty Bioblitzing Camera tutorial- (short workshop at the Salt + Fir Centre and surrounding area)

12:30 – 6:30pm – Freeform blitzing

7pm to 8:30pm – Fundy’s Bumblebees and Flower Flies: A colourful intro to some of Fundy’ Fabulous and most Prolific Pollinators- Indoor presentation @ the Salt and Fir Centre

Sunday June 11th
9:00 am- Beginning of day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability)

9:30am-12:30 pm: Medicinal plant walk with First Nations Elder- (trail to be determined)

Monday, June 12th to Thursday, June 15th
10 AM- Beginning of day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability). Salt and Fir open daily, on weekdays 10am until 3:30 pm

Friday, June 16th
9AM- Beginning of day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability)

7pm to 8:30 – Fundy’s Bumblebees and Flower flies: An intro to their diversity, natural history and special hints for locating them- An indoor presentation in the Salt and Fir Centre

Saturday, June 17th
9am- Beginning of the day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability)
9:30 to 12:00pm – Getting better pictures to record your observations: A Quick & Dirty Bioblitzing Camera Tutorial and bioblitzing @ Wolfe Lk (outdoor presentation: Meet at Wolfe Lake)
7pm – 8:30pm – Fundy’s Dragonflies: Intro to their diversity and natural history. This will include a demonstration of our bodacious Free Fundy Dragonfly iNaturalist Guide and App! (indoor presentation @ Salt and Fir Centre)

Sunday, June 18th (FINAL DAY)
9AM- Beginning of day’s activities- Check-in at Salt and Fir Centre for drop-in activities schedule (changes daily, dependent on weather and expert availability)

***Drop in 10am at Salt and Fir weekdays for daily schedule, 9 am on Fridays and weekends

***All activities unless otherwise stated are held at the Salt and Fir Centre. All activities are weather dependant. In case of rain, activities involving fauna will likely be replaced with one looking at flora.

Vendredi 9 juin

9h -9h30h Bienvenue et lancement du Bio-Blitz @ Centre Sel et Sapin

9h30 à 12h - Groupe scolaire Beaverbrook (randonnée Matthews Head)

13h00 à 17h00 Programme avec artisans du NB Craft Council

19h - 20h30 - Soirée cinéma de la biodiversité: "Every Living Thing" - Un documentaire sur les BioBlitz au Nouveau-Brunswick (en anglais avec sous-titres en français). Le film sera projeté au centre Sel et Sapin.

Samedi 10 juin

8h00 - Début des activités de la journée - Check-in au centre Sel et Sapin pour le programme d'activités (changements quotidiens, selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts)

8:30 départ pour Bennett Brook pour les participants à la marche guidée. (L'inscription est requise- se réunir à 8h au centre Sel et Sapin)

9h à 12h- Flore de Bennett Brook: une randonnée guidée avec un naturaliste du parc
(L'inscription requise- se réunir à 8h au centre Sel et Sapin)

13h30 à 15h30 - Obtenir de meilleures photos pour enregistrer vos observations: Un tutoriel rapide sur camera et smartphone (atelier court au centre Sel et Sapin et aux alentours)

12h30 - 18h30 – Blitz libre sur le terrain

19h à 20h30 - Bourdons et Syrphes de Fundy: une introduction colorée (en anglais avec questions en français) sur certains des pollinisateurs de Fundy - Présentation à intérieur @ centre Sel et Sapin

Dimanche 11 juin

9h00 - Début des activités de la journée - Check-in au centre Sel et Sapin pour le programme d'activités déroulantes (changement quotidiennement selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts)

9h30 à 12h30: Randonnée guidée au sujet des plantes médicinales- accompagnée d’une ainée des Premières Nations (L'inscription requise- se réunir à 9h au centre Sel et Sapin)

Lundi 12 juin au jeudi 15 juin :

10h00 - Activités de début de journée - Check-in au Centre Sel et Sapin pour les horaires d'activités déroulantes (changements quotidiens, selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts). Le centre Sel et Sapin ouvert les jours de la semaine de 10h à 15h30.

Vendredi 16 juin

9 h - Activités du début de la journée - Enregistrement au centre Sel et Sapin pour le programme d'activités déroulantes (changements quotidiens, selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts)

19h à 20h30 - Bourdons et Syrphes de Fundy: une introduction colorée (en anglais avec questions en français) sur certains des pollinisateurs de Fundy - Présentation à intérieur @ centre Sel et Sapin

Samedi 17 juin

9 heures du matin - Début des activités de la journée - Check-in au Centre sel et Sapin pour le programme d'activités déroulantes (changements quotidiens, selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts)

9h30 à 12h00 - Obtenir de meilleures photos pour enregistrer vos observations: Un tutoriel rapide sur camera et smartphone @ lac Wolfe (présentation en plein air: se rencontrer au Lac Wolfe)

19h - 20h30 - Libellules de Fundy: introduction à leur diversité et à leur histoire naturelle. Ceci inclut une démonstration de notre guide et application gratuite des libellules de Fundy sur iNaturalist! (Présentation à l'intérieur @ centre Sel et Sapin)

Dimanche 18 juin

Début des activités de la journée - Check-in au centre Sel et Sapin pour le programme d'activités déroulantes (changements quotidiens, selon la météo et la disponibilité des experts)

*** Venez nous retrouver dès 10h au Centre Sel et Sapin du lundi au jeudi pour un horaire quotidien, ou dès 9 heures le vendredi et le week-end

*** Toutes les activités, sauf indication contraire, ont lieu au centre Sel et Sapin. Toutes les activités dépendent de la météo. En cas de pluie, les activités impliquant la faune seront probablement remplacées par un regard sur la flore.
