Join the Biosphere's September iNaturalist Challenge!

This month we are promoting REPTILES ON ROADS!

Road mortality is one of the biggest threats to our reptiles in Ontario! From late summer into the fall, baby turtles begin emerging from their nests and making their way to wetlands! Unfortunately, they often have to cross roadways to get there. Our snakes are also at risk of road mortality throughout the fall as they travel to their overwintering sites.

You can help by keeping your speed down and your eyes peeled to help our snakes and turtles get across the road safely!

Add your observations to the Georgian Bay Biosphere project on iNaturalist throughout the month of September for your chance to win a GBB themed prize pack! Whoever submits the highest number of REPTILE (turtle, snake and lizard) observations will take home the prize!

Participation is easy:

1) Create an iNaturalist Account (www.inaturalist.ca)
2) Join the Georgian Bay Biosphere iNaturalist Project (https://inaturalist.ca/projects/georgian-bay-biosphere)
3) Submit as many observations as you can between September 1 st-30th.

Remember:
1) All observations must be within our Biosphere Boundary (map on our project page)
2) You must select Georgian Bay Biosphere under the project tab for each observation

The individual with the highest number of reptile observations will be our winner!

Share with us your favourite observations! Have fun and good luck!
