Happy Birthday to the Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome Project

Hi everyone,

It may be a day late, but the Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome Project has been on iNaturalist for a full year!! The project has come a long way from its initial days, reaching 118 members and 245 observations. I would like to thank each and everyone of our members for your contribution to the project over the years, your observations have been proving invaluable. I would like to invite our members to leave us a comment about anything regarding your contribution to the project over the year - a funny lorikeet story, something you have learned by being a part of the project, discovering new places and/or people by being out and about looking for Rainbow Lorikeets etc.

I would also like to apologise for the silence the last couple of weeks via our journal posts, we are currently working on a report looking at the projects year in review, which we hope to be able to share with you in the coming weeks. This will enable are hard working citizen scientists to read up on what has been occurring with the project over this last year, an some exciting works/results ahead.

Keep safe and Happy Rainbow Lorikeet spotting!

Lauren, David, Maya

This project has been a great opportunity to learn and I think I now view the World differently - I actually look at the trees, the bark, the leaves, the blossoms and who is there and what are they doing. I saw Scaly-breasted lorikeets nesting in a tree hollow this week. Thanks Lauren, David and Maya for making this possible.

Great project, to me this is a good example of the flexibility, reliability and usability of the iNaturalist platform. It's nice that this exists and bespoke systems don't have to be created to enable citizen scientists to collect data for projects like this.

Being out looking for wildlife is of course enjoyable, but having a distinct purpose such as this project adds an extra layer of satisfaction.
