The MHA began in 2011, and has collected more than 5000 location records of reptiles and amphibians in Manitoba. To learn more about amphibians and reptiles, visit Nature North at http://www.naturenorth.com/Herps/Manitoba_Herps_Atlas.html
This project gives you a chance to help build a knowledge base of our province’s reptiles and amphibians so we can get a better understanding of the distribution of these remarkable creatures in Manitoba.
We encourage you to participate! To increase the value of your observations, please note the location as accurately as possible, and provide additional comments such as:
• the number of individuals observed
• size and evidence of reproduction
• condition and extent of the habitat
• potential threats in the area
• any other items you think may be of interest
Your observations of rare species will be added to the Manitoba Conservation Data Centre (MBCDC) which is maintained by Manitoba Sustainable Development and used to assist environmental reviews and planning efforts. To learn more about MBCDC and see what species we track, please visit www.manitoba.ca/conservation/cdc/index/html
