The purpose of this project is to document biota found and planted on the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden property while using public participation in scientific research (PPSR).
Volunteers and visitors of the garden are encouraged to photograph the species they find on our property and add them to our project here on iNaturalist. These collaborations will yield new knowledge by providing access to more and different observations and data collected on the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden property.
Our goals for this project are to document changes in populations of plants or animals, to engage local citizens in scientific inquiry, observation, and data collection to aid the understanding of a variety of scientific concepts, and to show new ways in which technology can be used in an everyday fashion to advance and support science.
