Hiker hospitalized after bear that 'came out of nowhere' attacks near Sierra Madre.

A hiker was hospitalized Monday after he encountered two bears and one of the animals attacked him in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains near Sierra Madre, authorities said.

Can a 17-mile loop of extensive bike trails between San Gabriel and Rio Hondo rivers ever be built?

A plan to add bike, hiking and horse trails along with new parks within a 17-mile loop of automobile-free, connectivity linking the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel Rivers is inching forward.
