Wetland Plants of Nova Scotia (FACW & OBL)

This project is intended to be a collection of (primarily) wetland vascular plant species in the province of Nova Scotia.

The checklist for this project is limited to observations of species that are listed as Facultative Wetland (FACW) and Obligate Wetland (OBL), as defined in Nova Scotia's 'Wetland Plant Indicator List' (ACCDC, 2012).

NOTE: Though highly indicative of wetland conditions in many cases (e.g., Sphagnum spp.), Bryophytes are not included in this list at present, as these are not assigned a Wetland Indicator Status.

The intended usage of the project data is to provide indication of where wetland conditions may exists in the Province, beyond those areas that are mapped in provincial inventories.

DEFINITIONS:
Obligate Wetland (OBL) - occurs almost always (estimated probability 99%) under natural conditions in wetlands.

Facultative Wetland (FACW) - usually occurs in wetlands (estimated probability 67%-99%), but occasionally found in non-wetlands. less ↑
