Wildlife on Roads - A Hanbook

Hi Members,

Thank-you for contributing to the Wildlife on Road inaturalist project.

Updates on the book. We travelled to Toronto, Kamloops, Massachusetts, and the Netherlands to road conferences with the book and received invaluable feedback. We have now integrated all the feedback and are onto our second edition already. We want to be happy with it before the 'official launch'. It has now gone to graphic design and we found an affordable printer so that we can distribute and sell the book at an affordable price for the citizen science market!

We hope to launch soon in early 2019!

Kari on behalf of the Wildlife on Roads team.

The book is slated for launch in February 2019. Approximate cost is $30.00 for colour high quality paper 80#. We will likely offer a slighter less expensive option on normal quality paper. We are in the process of developing an on-line store that will be available for February 15th. We will also be asking for discounted pre-orders around February 15th with a March delivery..... Stay tuned, almost there.

Our on-line store is officially opened. Please see https://eco-kare.com/shop/
to get a book that features this iNaturalist project and provides guidelines for good data collections. The handbook is organized by vertebrate groups: amphibians, turtles, snakes and lizards, birds and mammals. It explains why these animals may be found and killed on roads. Then presents diagnostic features to accurately identify the animal. If identification is not possible then the picture can be submitted to this iNaturalist project where identification can be verified by one of its many experts. Be sure to turn on the 'geolocate while taking pictures' to have the location uploaded to iNaturalist!
