I started out like so many, as a birder, but eventually developed an interest in butterflies, which soon morphed into an interest, some would say obsession, with all insects. Currently, moth larvae attract my attention much of the time, but I am interested in every aspect of the natural world and spend most days from spring through autumn in the field finding and photographing insects (mainly), but also arachnids, plants, herps, birds, and mammals. I've done some Ecological Land Classification; surveyed for Species at Risk, and prepared inventories of flora and fauna for various agencies. I was also a regional coordinator (Ottawa area) for the two Ontario Breeding Bird Atlases (1981-1985 and 2001-2005), as well as regional coordinator for the Loggerhead Shrike survey back in the mid-1980s for a year.
