I'm a retired (N.O.A.A.) biometrician. Most of my publications have concerned population dynamics and fisheries management; but i don't really know fish taxonomy very well, though I enjoy sport fishing for many species. My main natural history avocation since 1946 has been herpetology, particularly reptiles, and especially snakes. I live in Eastern N.C. and enjoy "sauntering" and observing, and occasionally catching--especially the slower moving ones; the "photon torpedoes", like lizards and racers, are now beyond my capabilities. But I do try, and sometimes succeed in, taking a few (frequently fuzzy) photos. I've been fortunate enough to travel a fair amount, that has allowed me to add quite a few species to my life list.
