Two florets per spikelet, both lemmas awned. Mostly disarticulated.

Plant to >6' tall. Glume vein not extending to tip.
Emergent from very wet area, in association with Equisetum (E. telmateia?), Stachys (S.cooleyae?) Rubus armeniacus, Urtica dioica, and a large fern.
