Parasitic Plants and Hosts in Eastern North America

This project used to be called" Hosts for American Mistletoe: Oak or No?" We wanted to document whether Phoradendron leucarpum mostly lived on oak trees or had other hosts. But since winter is the ideal time to spot mistletoe growing on bare trees, this project hardly had any activity any other time of the year. It makes sense to include other parasitic plants of the Southeast to make this a project for all seasons.

Update: Eastern North America seems a more natural geographic range to cover since some of these parasitic plants such as Phoradendron leucarpum for instance, extend their range north well beyond Virginia the most northern of the Southeastern states. Let’s track parasitic plants from Florida up into Canada if needs be! less ↑
