The Little Arthropod Project is part of a larger umbrella Little Things Project- a collaborative scientific initiative dedicated to the identification and cataloging of the sometimes overlooked "little things" of Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Stanley Park is an amazing place, and is host to a huge diversity of terrestrial and marine animals, plants, and fungi.
All too often it is the larger creatures in the park that seem to get the lion's share of the scientific attention.
It is our intent with this project to direct some much deserved attention to the smaller, less noticeable creatures within Stanley Park; eventually adding them to SPES's State of the Park Report for the Ecological Integrity of Stanley Park (SOPEI) appendices.
This project has been created specifically to help identify various arthropod species, both documented and undocumented, currently existing within the borders of Stanley Park.
Currently this project is open to everyone.
Please ensure that your submission(s) meet the following criteria:
- The subject was found within the borders of Stanley Park
- That your photo contains geographic information as to where it was observed in the park.
- That your observation indicates the size of the subject.
That it includes at least 1 photo that meets the following criteria:
a) That the photograph is sharp and not blurry
b) That the observation is very prominent, and is the main subject of the photo (please don't upload a large photo with a tiny little speck in the background somewhere that is the observation)
c) That the photo is of sufficient quality that it will not be pixelated when viewed at full magnification on this site.
Submissions that do not meet this criteria may be removed from the project.
Thank you.
