Not trying to be crass but… although not unheard of it was certainly an unexpected surprise to find interspecies copulation between Cottonwood and Willow Leaf Beetles. I wish that union would take, their offspring would be beautiful.

Description
Junco hyemalis × zonotrichia albicollis (Dark-eyed Junco × White-throated Sparrow). Photographed at Ashbridges Bay Park, Toronto, Ontario on 10 October 2022. A rare treat to see this interesting hybrid. I'm not sure who found this bird, but thanks!

Description
It doesn't appear that it's some kind of injury damage as much as a deformity and, I understand, from A.K.D., (Avian Keratin Disorder). It's hard to believe she, a woodpecker, has survived to adulthood with this bill.

Experts - What is going on here? This male American Kestrel sure did seem to have the hots for this female Merlin. He kept trying to get close to her and even brought her a few treats (insects?) from the grass beneath the fence. She accepted the treats but didn't seem thrilled with the attention.
