I am Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the Ohio State University. My interest in flowers and animals began when I was a child being raised on 30 acres of land in North Carolina. After obtaining my Ph.D. at the University of California at Berkeley, I joined the faculty at OSU.

My principal research interests related to the Geotechnical aspects environmental problems. Specifically, I developed mathematical models for the USEPA quantifying transport of phosphates in lakes, describing transport of methane around landfills, recover of methane gas from landfills for use as energy, and the fundamental aspects of soil strength.

My wife and I are currently building a house in Hocking County, Ohio.
