Shape: Understory tree
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White elongated cluster
Leaves: oval, abruptly pointed tip, 2 ½-4 inches long, 1-2 1/3 inches wide, finely serrated
Bark: brown/grey, smooth with pale lenticels
Fruit/Seed: red/purple – black berry, 1/3 inch diameter
Height: 10-25 feet
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: open woods, forest edges and openings, fencerows, riverbanks, roadsides
