Common Green Darner / L'Anax
(Anax junius)

Size: 68-84 mm, normally our largest species in Fundy

First Fundy record: July 6th, 2013, weekly Bio-Blitz program (netted by Ira Smith)

Status/Habitat: Both a migratory and year-round resident. Typically prefers fishless ponds, including beaver ponds, swamps and smaller lakes.

Flight period in New Brunswick: May 3rd to October 8th

ID Hints: Normally the only species found in the Maritimes to have an all lime-green thorax.
