River Jewelwing / Caloptéryx à taches apicales

Calopteryx aequabilis

Summary 2

The River Jewelwing (Calopteryx aequabilis) is a species of broad-winged damselfly. It is one out of the 170 species of the Odonata found from northeastern Alberta to Nova Scotia and south in most of the US.

Fundy Nature Notes 3

To date, there is only a single, known sight record for this species in the park, when one flew over the Visitors Reception Centre on June 22, 2013. This species may well occur in a nearby brook, such as Dickson Brook. It should be looked for in any clear, clean, moderate to fast flowing watercourses in the area; it almost certainly co-occurs with the other two species of Jewelwing known for the park.
