Trogon tenellus

The Northern Black-throated Trogon (Trogon tenellus) is a striking species found from Honduras to northwest Colombia. Both males and females display a yellow belly, a black-and-white barred tail, a pale blue eye ring, and a yellow beak. Males boast a vibrant green head and back, while females exhibit brown tones.

This trogon is commonly found in wooded areas, where it perches, often motionless, within the canopy. Its distinctive song sets it apart, characterized by a slower and shorter rhythm compared to most trogons.
