Mira's Plants Journal

All these observations were taken in Jeanne-Mance Park. The weather was very sunny that day, which explains the beautiful and bright colours of the plants. One adaptation that only the sunflower had is that the sunflower has the ability to provide energy in the form of nourishment. In addition, I realized one adaption that all observations had in common is that they are all gymnosperms (a plant that has seeds but they are unprotected by an ovary or fruit) and they all belong in the kingdom plantae. Also, all trees in my observations were tall, this is very crucial since there are fewer things that will obstruct them from receiving sunlight. Furthermore, the phylogeny placement that the sunflower belongs to is as follows: Domain: Eukaryotes Kingdom: Plant Phylum: Vascular Plant Class: Magnoliopsida Order: Asterales Family: Daisy family Genus: Sunflower Species: Helianthus
