An evening walk full of beetles

We had a little bit of rain Friday, finally, so afterwards in the evening I went out into the scrub for a walk. It smelled wonderful! There were several beetles out on the bushes, and this one velvet ant climbing a sage stem. March and April were not very good months for insects here, so I'm glad May has been a lot better.

This is mostly to try out the Journal... I used to use the app, so for a long time I didn't have access to many of the features on the web site.

The apparent color in person was a somewhat brighter blue than the pictures show. I wasn't using a large enough flash diffuser for such a shiny beetle.
