Nature journal entry, October 29, 2018...
Photographer: William Wise - Waning Gibbous Moon; Walton County, Georgia. October 29, 2018.
Monday, October 29, 2018 - a bright blue sky and a breezy sunrise! A large Waning Gibbous moon still hangs in the morning sky showing all its scars and marks. The sun has brief opportunities to warm my back between the gusts of cooler air and patches of morning shade. A Belted Kingfisher makes impressive swoops and dives on the current over the main pond.
Before heading into the office for the day, I had the privilege of watching a Downy Woodpecker clear out an old nest cavity in a low snag over the duckweed bog. I watched for about ten to fifteen minutes. The little Downy was too occupied to care about my presence.
