What

Limbaugh's Cadlina Cadlina limbaughorum

Observer

Date

October 18, 2019 05:22 PM PDT

Description

24 mm long. First time I've ever seen this subtidal species. As seen here - and originally described by Jim Lance in 1962 - one of the posterior-most gill plumes lacks dark pigment.

Thanks to Christoph Pierre, Director of Marine Operations and Collector/Naturalist at UCSB, who collected this specimen from 10 - 15 m depth off the Ellwood Mesa and loaned it to me to photograph.
