City Nature Challenge 2021

What is the City Nature Challenge?

Invented by citizen science staff at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (Lila Higgins) and California Academy of Sciences (Alison Young). The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style competition where cities are in a contest against each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people.
Capture
The challenge will be held form 30th April to 3rd May and i hope you will all join in making as many observations as you can, focusing on an urban setting.

Ready and waiting...!

Trivial PS [typically davemmdave @ his most weedy]:
The above image is excellent in conveying the spirit and intent of the Challenge. But,for we parochial South Aussies, the plant is yet another South African weed-in-the-making ,currently widely promoted and sold in most retail nurseries, even used by local government departments on nature strips and in housing subdivisions. I will guarantee it will soon be a recognised exotic garden escape aka WEED here in Australia. With apologies if this comment's inappropriate, just give the word and I'll wipe it.

Yes, fair call, I have it as a placeholder as i didn't have another at hand, although I have a good one of @rwl someplace i may change it on the project description

Thanks and I really am ambivalent about my comment, especially as the picture tells it like it is, not how I/we'd like it to be!

Hi. Should each contributor focus on one specific area or just go for it all over the place? I take it we just upload our material and add to projects, right?

Kinda, this is a collection project mutch like the GSbioblitz, so any observations made during the period, within the "area' (see map) will be included. (some exceptions) ie if obscured they may be out of the area. I think this is sorted out with the CNC so it may not be an issue., we will be posting how-to and other things on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (links in the profile)
