Ettowah Marsh history

Received an email from the marsh and surrounding land owner with this reported history:
"When we first came here the whole marsh was covered with cranberries. The locals use to pick them. We have heard many stories from those that grew up [here] how this was a community event. [A local owner of land on the lake] would dynamite the beaver lodges to keep the lake at the right level. The lake now gets to be about two feet higher than it originally was. The marsh would pretty much dry out in the fall and cranberry picking would be easy."
