OUR NATIVE BEES
Our March program will present an overview of the native bees found in our area, featuring photographs taken in Ellis County over the past two years.

Impressed by the variety of native bees attracted to the Butterfly Garden at Mockingbird Nature Park, in the fall of 2015 our speaker decided to turn her vegetable garden into a native wildflower garden. The following Spring brought a riot of wildflowers (yes, really) and an almost unbelievable number and variety of native bees to the yard. A native bee enthusiast, Carolyn Gritzmaker will present photos she took of these bees and share information on the different species.

Carolyn Gritzmaker is a charter member of the Indian Trail Chapter and a certified Texas Master Naturalist. She has been interested in insects all her life and has recently turned her interest to the study of our native bees

Indian Trail Chapter is part of the statewide Texas Master Naturalist Volunteer Program of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

The Mission …to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach,
and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas
within their communities.
This program is part of a series of “no cost” “open to the public” Master Naturalist programs offered the fourth Monday (generally) of each month, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Please bring a friend!
