Summary of count on 3/14/2024 (Pi Day!)

First count of 2024. 9 species:

  • Anise Swallowtail (Papilio zelicaon)
  • Brown Elfin (Callophrys augustinus)
  • Echo Azure (Celastrina echo)
  • Gray Buckeye (Junonia grisea)
  • Northern White-Skipper (Heliopetes ericetorum)
  • Oreas Comma (Polygonia oreas)
  • Propertius Duskywing (Erynnis propertius)
  • Sara Orangetip (Anthocharis sara)
  • Satyr Comma (Polygonia satyrus)

Two species in transect:

  • Brown Elfin (Callophrys augustinus)
  • Gray Buckeye (Junonia grisea)

Five in-trasect individuals:

  • Serpentine - 1
  • Grassland - 2
  • Chaparral - 2

Of note: Bald eagle spotted above the grassland transect. Mating brown elfins spotted on Trail 9
