This project is focussed on obtaining data with regards to the species richness and distribution of South African grassland forb species. This includes dicotyledons, monocotyledons, bulbous and tuberous plants that are generally found beneath the grass layer. Grassland forb species are under-sampled and understudied in large regions of the South African, such as the grasslands of northern KwaZulu Natal and southern Mpumalanga. Even though the biomass of grasslands are characterized by grass species, the exceptional diversity of grasslands can be attributed to the forb species.
