And that's a wrap

The South Dakota #NatureInPlace challenge officially ended at 11:59 PM on April 30. The stats from the project are summarized on the project overview At 945 observations we are just shy of a 1000 which is exciting. And since observations made from April 1-April 30 can still be added we may reach a 1000 yet.

What excites me even more than the observations is the number of observers. In doing a spot check of observers and their observations, I see many began or reactivated their iNaturalist journey during this challenge. I know for a fact that some observers are not observing in isolation. They are parents or teachers and their observations are or will involve the next generation in learning about nature in place.

As I mentioned above, the project will continue to accept observations made during April 2020 even if they are uploaded weeks or months (years?) later. While this project has come to a close, my hope is that a new way of being in the world has opened (wider) to everyone who participated.

Well done and thank you.
