Nature Journaling is an activity for all ages. Responding creatively to nature helps deepen understanding and appreciation for our local area, and creates an outlet for artistic expression. The limits of nature journaling are that there are none.
This weekend those teachers participating in the STEM weekend will be taking a hike and talking about tracking. Teachers are encouraged to take as many observations as possible to help them create a nature journal entry on tracking back in the classroom. A nature journal tracking entry could be about a day in the life of a white tailed deer in the badlands, or the traffic around a certain rock in the backdrop of the badlands. It could be a poem, a sketch, or a treasure map. Remember, tracking isn't just about tracks! Keep in mind also the three nature journaling prompts:
