My interest in nature started at age 5, quite amazing since my parents thought that my interest in nature was stupid. I started with butterflies and other insects but gradually moved to birds. I'm well known as an expert birder but have always had an interest in other natural history subjects. About 20 years ago I finally started working on the plants and am now considered an expert on them as well. Still some weak spots but I'm pretty good now. When the BC Butterfly Atlas project started I got back into the butterflies seriously and am now considered an expert at them as well. I've done a fair amount of mycology study and can tell most mammals by tracks and scat. I've also studied some geology and even some astronomy. Basically if it's part of nature I'm into it. I'm 63 now and still working but I get out to enjoy nature as often as possible.
