Description

I think this is Ero aphana based on the appearance and epigynum. A recent introduction to BC? I found her on an outdoor chair near the house, feeding on what I believe is a juvenile Parasteatoda tepidariorum. I scooped her up on a bit of greenery to photograph her. Epigynum and ventral images from several hours later, once she had finished her meal.

Update: added one of the other epigynum images I took. The original one was shot through a very dusty bit of glass, though the second angle is perhaps worse.

My mirror failed to fully retract on one shot (I think), making a false "ground" right where it should be for a chaparral yucca. This (hespero)yucca also afforded me a glimpse of two yucca moths! Previously observed. Initial observation Follow-up observation showing habitat and height scale
