Description

I first came across this specimen, growing on a dead (still standing) Alnus rubra in 2016¹ and had last measured it in 2021². Since then, the host tree has fallen over and the fruiting body was unable to recover its position, effectively killing it.

Description

Couldn't help but noticed this mantis perched on a poop when I walked in to hike. On my way out, it's motives became clear. It was waiting on the poop to snatch up unsuspecting flies so it could eat them.
