On this particular afternoon, I was chasing some trespass cattle off the Refuge and back onto an adjacent ranch. I documented the downed fence and I'm cropping some images to show a few plants in this remote corner of the Refuge (Williamson Co. portion).

Description
Very difficult to get a good photo, may try and take better ones with an actual camera, but this plant was growing in near-pure sand, in the middle of a clump of some sort of small grass. Has one thick, fleshy root, no visible leaves, and several extremely diminutive crimson red flowers.
