Roy H. Park Nature Preserve. This one has me puzzled. I presume this is a pale, yellow flower, growing between some moss and Canada Mayflowers, near a stream in a mixed hardwood-softwood forest. But I've scanned through all of the angiosperm species observed in Central New York and I can't find anything similar to this.
If these are leaves (yellow cotyledons?) instead of flower petals, then this plant has some similarity to the slightly larger plant growing to its left in several of these photos, except that the leaves of that larger plant are green (and appear to have been chewed by something along one edge). Any ideas, anyone?
