Low growing shrub in windswept, rocky location. Juvenile leaves narrow elliptic, serrated with rusty hairs on the underside especially along the mid-vein. Adult leaves larger, some with a few teeth, others entire, hairs fewer and paler. Inflorescence the characteristic steel-grey of this species.
