Mama possum with babies on board looking for food around the backyard after last night's heavy rain and storms
This animal was washed over the handrail shortly after hurricane Harvey. It was unable to get back in the Bayou. Animal services were called and shortly thereafter helped it back into the bayou.
7:36pm - 7:38pm near the parking lot of the East Tower. After preening, it crossed the road circle and went North just East of the Butterfly Garden.
Seen with @trizzle26
Large area where the majority of the small trees were apparently cleared by beavers. Just uphill of a small creek.
Female eating Bluebonnet seeds.
It got stuck chasing a squirrel lol...he has done this before. He'll be fine. It's sight to see lol.
youngster sleeping didn't want to disturb it...it's alive trying to stay hidden, it was burrowing itself in the tall grass... so cute
The beaver has made a dam and a lodge in our local little creek. It has lived there for years but is very illusive.
Possibly skunk tracks.
Caught in a mist over a pond. Kept and deposited into McMurry University mammal collection.
About 5 minutes after Mud Snake crossing, A Great Blue Heron caught this snake. It eventually subdued and ate the snake.
Two month old cougar kill site using a collared cougar and verification by track and sign specialists and cougar biologists, with scratches on both a vertical tree and a horizontal, fallen tree.
NOTE: This type of scratching is relatively rare for cats in general. Most often, large scratches in trees are from bears.
Take a look at the texture of the palm pad!
Not trying to advertise, credit cards are just a convenient and well known size haha
Porcupine den in black spruce and tamarack sphagnum bog. Feeding sign visible in background. Porcupine emerged while I was there.
The fifth photo shows marten tracks going one direction and male fisher tracks going the opposite way. Photo six is the imprint of the marten when it jumped from a tree (the head was pointing to the right).
Prettiest Hare tracks!
Tracks everywhere on these trails
The tracks are in town but somewhat away from development (the old dump) and near the wildlife corridors of the Yukon River and MacIntyre Creek. The tracks cut through trees off of the trail in a direct route that eventually led to the steep valley of MacIntyre Creek and headed down the hill.
This possum had at least 4 babies that I watched it remove from a cavity in a dead hackberry tree. One fell and mama eventually came down the tree to retrieved it, stuffing it into it’s pouch along with all the others. All the while, a titmouse was pulling hair off of the mama possum’s butt.
Okay y'all... Beaver, River Otter (my first guess), or Nutria/Coypu...? There were 5 of them... Was pretty cool to see them coming back down Old River (which was completely dried up this past summer-late winter). Just really hoping they're not another invasive species (Nutria) & if Beaver or Otter, are left to do their good works & ecological services.
The shrew got out of view before I could snap a picture...this is the "maze" it created under a board.
Some of Sam's babies are out, but there are a couple tails still in the pouch
Early morning before 7am every few days. At this point the creek is pretty empty so they are easier to spot.
Saw these guys under the bridge at the San Bernard River at US90. I think they are Mexican free-tailed bats, but I'm not completely sure.
957 dead due to freeze. Large number of live bats heard and observed
3 otters in my stock tank, couldn’t get close enough to get a good picture. Not beavers and no nutria.

Scat was found on the slope of a man-made levee, that is occasionally mowed, that encircles a man-made wetland below the dam of ACOE Pat Mayse Lake. This is a state wildlife management area. There are beaver dams in the stream nearby and in the wetland near the culvert that lets water out into the stream.
Added two images of same scat a week later and broken open for detail.
atropellado
The coyotes failed to catch it.
My personal trail cam captures
Deceased in parking garage — cause of death not clear
Squirrel (fox squirrel?) being squeezed (eaten later?) by snake. Duplicating observation per request of snake predation enthusiasts who messaged me. I was not able to determine the ultimate fate of the squirrel or the snake - just passing by.
Great Blue or Great White
Otter or beaver?
Likely raccoon but could be skunk or fox
