Description
These sporocarps were found growing gregariously in a small clump of Port Orford cedar in the middle of a wet bog (Darlingtonia present). Presumed saprotroph.
The aroma on these was fairly mild, nutty, but also with plant-y/weedy notes. Very solid, small fruiting bodies, growing shallow in the soil.

Not much of a photographer, but that might change after accidentally taking this photo. This was one of the top species I wanted to see in Borneo, and it was easier to find than I thought. The Dusun word for these is "Takang", which is also what the call sounds like.

Massive 240' ft+ Douglas fir with a dead top. it is not the largest douglas fir in this stand. one of the only old growth sites in Columbia County. old growth was logged right up to the ridgeline where it sits. unstable and muddy hillsides. logging this patch of old growth would be a mistake if it happens.

A number of Port Orford cedars have been planted in the Harbor Vista Campground, perhaps as part of "reforestation" following the 1962 Columbus Day storm. This site, and Lane County in general, is well north of the northern natural limit of the species' distribution, as I understand it.
None of the trees are obvious natural regeneration so I am calling this observation "cultivated". One tree in the campground has reddish-brown foliage and appears to be dying, so it may be that Phytophthora lateralis has now arrived.
