Another birder observing this nest with a camera said that she had seen 3 babies poking their heads out of the cavity: 2 males and 1 female. We saw a parent visit the nest cavity to feed the babies twice. They were so cute!! They kept making little "feed me" noises even when the parent was nowhere in sight.

I found this dead snake on the side of the road. It had been run over. There were maggots on the inside of its cracked, glass-like eye, which was super cool.
Its eyes were sunken in and there was a hole in its side, which are both shown. I moved it off the road.
In my experience, and that of my friend who visits the park more frequently than I, snakes are rare within Irvine Park. This was my 1st sighting (with 2 since then), and he's only seen 1 (with me).
