These are wild mustangs who reside by the Salt River in Mesa, Arizona’s Goldfield Recreational Area. Tracing the Salt River wild horses back, historic records indicate that in 1687 Missionary Father Eusebio Keno journeyed to Southern Arizona (then Sonora) Due to his efforts, missions and stockyards were developed, he reportedly left hundreds of horses and cattle at each mission.

Not roaming the planet anymore, but this hoof on the beach is evidence that the Yukon Horse (Equus lambei) once roamed the shores of Qikiqtaruk. Or nearby shores some 15,000 years ago.

I left the screen door open and this little cutie came in for a visit around 3 in the morning. Used a bed sheet to direct him back outside. First I have seen since 2012 or so. I had a good look at him when he was hanging from
The ceiling at one point and clinging to the wall. Don’t know if you’d see fungus on them at this time
Of the year, but there was none. Nice to know they are around
