Description

No doubt a released pet, because there is no one there for it to have escaped from. I am not 100% confident in my ID, because I have NO experience with this species.

I heard it moving in the trees just off the trail, and when I looked, it was in a Paw-paw ~8 feet off the ground. Luckly, I had my hook on me, as I usually do, and was able to fanagale it down. I walked it to my vehicle, and it was so dedicated to my hook, I set the hook and snake on the ground, and he only watched. I got a snake bag, rolled it down, so I could drop it in and just pull the bag over it. Then I tried for this photo, and in doing so I learned this species has a strike range nearly 3/4 of the animals body length. After nearly getting bit, by a snake that I was not sure what it was, I got the tongs to pull the bag up to bag it. Once, I bagged it, it still would not release my hook, and was wrapped in a way that I could not force it off with out hurting it. So, I tied my hook in the bag with it until eventually he loosened up.

An absolute CRAZY find. I was 100% confident it was a Boaid, and fairly certain it was, as I told Evan, "One of the Amazon Tree Boas." I currently have the animal in my possession. I am working on fixing an encosure now. I am posting him because I want to Confim my ID for proper care, and it was released, so I want to make sure we have a record. Due to its nasty disposition, I have not attempted anymore photos, but will when it is in its new enclosure home.
