I made submissions to iNat in 2019, and earlier this season, for a red-backed salamander within, or at the entrance to, this cavity in a yellow birch tree (Betula alleghaniensis).
But this is the first time I've observed two individuals of this species occupying the cavity together. The cavity is approx one meter above the surface of the ground.
