Another backyard moss under the microscope. This was growing on the bark of a cherry tree in my yard and I'm feeling pretty confident about the ID. I took a small piece with sporophyte inside to first spray it with water and then pull it apart for the microscopy and crushed the capsule with the cover slip to get the spores out. Look at those beauties! Some of the microscope images are focus stacks. Size bars are based on a calibration slide.
