I was waiting at the light and saw all of these birds. They looked so happy and sounded happy. I have a shirt my sister gave me that looks just like the scene I photographed. It was awesome to see and hear also.
I'd become enthralled with the story of this Endangered bird when I'd read a fantastic article by Eric Simons ( we are lucky Eric has joined iNat recently and goes by @ericsimons ) in Bay Nature Magazine. @dpom told me the best place to see them is the historic ghost town of Bodie, CA. Early in the morning. "Be the first in line at the kiosk before the place opens." Spot-on advice. Magnificent, big bird. Would love to see a displaying male some day.
Spotted this snake in Roseville, CA on 3/28/14. Snake was found near a small creek at South Veterans Memorial Park off of Blue Oaks Blvd. It looked to be at least 3 feet maybe a little longer. -SS
